read my story
Fur & Fables is born from combining my love of photography, being out in nature and dogs (friends have lost me on countless occasions because I have spotted a dog across a crowded pub/park/street and ‘had’ to say hello).
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Fur & Fables came to life as a fusion of my passion for photography, a deep connection with nature, a genuine love for animals.
I started as a wedding photographer 12 years ago, and when I got my first dog, started photographing him. I slowly got commissions for natural pet portraits (which I didn’t even know was a thing back then), and the occasional pet brand before realising that’s where to focus. And I now have a job where I am a visual storyteller for pet brands, a lot of which are either outdoor focused or with a strong emphasis on nature and sustainability. Sometimes I have to pinch myself.
The essence of Fur & Fables lies in creating images which tell a story and shows the strong bond with the animals who share our lives.
GET TO KNOW ME A LITTLE MORE
I grew up in a council house in Manchester, but despite being quite far removed from nature and animals, somehow found a love for both – regularly bringing home bedraggled injured pigeons much to the dismay of my parents. At school I loved art and my final GCSE project was based around nature. When I ‘grew up’ I wanted to be a vet, an RSPCA officer, an author or a fashion designer so all the signs of something creative involving nature were there! (I also wanted to be an air traffic controller but that doesn’t fit into the story quite so well!
- I’m a self taught photographer, and I hope I will always be learning something new about it.
- My family is my two whippets who are my life.
- I grew up in Manchester, lived Surrey and Sussex for over 20 years before relocating to the west of Cumbria, just on the edge of the Lake District, where I forgot how little the North sees the sun compared to the South!
- Past obsessions have included; ancient Egypt, running, twitter, Robert Downey Jr., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audrey Hepburn, Pulp Fiction. Photography and coffee are the only two that have stuck!
- I have eclectic tastes. I read everything from John Steinbeck to Stephen King and listen to Dr Hook, The Carpenters, Linkin Park. I seriously think music can affect your mood. I’m currently reading anything to do with how the brain and mind works and am fascinated with how we have the ability to control our health.

how can I help you?
My job is to make your job easier – and our work together starts way before the shoot. We first create a vision of the images you want to portray your brand, from colours, location, types of pet, and a basic shot list. From this I can do a lot of the leg work for you – sourcing locations, animal models (I have a dog model database), scheduling times and pulling everything together. I can’t wait to hear your story…
