How experience can help you with your pet brand photoshoot.
I’ve been working with dog brands for over 8 years creating high end imagery which I tailor for each brand. Building a strong relationship is at the core of what I do. I’ve undertaken numerous shoots for clients where products are sent to me, and I’m entrusted to work independently. Although I’ve successfully managed shoots without clients present, there’s something truly fabulous about having someone with me witnessing their products or services transform right before their eyes.
“A chance meeting through a twitter hour back in 2017 led us to Kerry Jordan. We were a very new start up at the time. Kerry took our first professional product and lifestyle shots. We have continued working with Kerry ever since. Kerry is an extremely reliable, enthusiastic and talented photographer, our website and social media pages would be nothing without her input. We cannot recommend her enough and she has been a pleasure to work with.” Lauren from K9 Connectables
Does your pet brand really need a photographer?
Engaging photography not only captures but it also keeps your ideal customers’ attention. It tells a consistent story across your website, social media and marketing. It elevates your brand away from your competitors.
It is also crucial for making a lasting impression in the media. If you’re considering pitching your product or service to newspapers and magazines, high-quality images are a must – brands have been turned down for stories because they don’t have high quality imagery. My brand imagery has graced the covers of prestigious publications such as The Times Home, The Independent, Joules Pet Collection, Town & Country, The Guardian and many more!
If your brand values quality and believes that happy dogs mean happier humans, drop me an email, and I’ll send over my pricing plan.
How does a commercial pet photoshoot work?
Prices depend on the project but always include a comprehensive consultation where we delve into your brand, discuss colours and locations, create a shot list, and even source dog models. Regardless of your location, I’ve facilitated shoots with clients who’ve couriered their products or I have travelled all over the UK for shoots.
For me, it’s not just about capturing images; it’s about building a relationship and understanding your brand. This ethos has led to long term partnerships with some companies for over 8 years.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with notable brands and influencers, including Redhound for Dogs, The Dog & I, Lamina Animals, Ollie & Co, K9 Connectables, Collar Club Subscription Box, Slumbering Hound, Nash Dog, The Innocent Hound, Natures Menu, My Anxious Dog, The Canine Menu, Rocky the Traveller, and Girl on a Farm.
Are you ready to elevate your brand with captivating imagery? Drop me a message, and I’ll provide you with a personalised pricing proposal. Looking forward to hearing from you! Kerry
What can I do to make your pet brand photoshoot easy for you?
My job is to make your job easier – and our work together starts way before the shoot. We first create a vision of the images you want to portray your brand, from colours, location, types of pet, and a basic shot list. From this I can do a lot of the leg work for you – sourcing locations, animal models (I have a dog model database), scheduling times and pulling everything together. Commercial Pet Photography FAQs
What does the typical process look like for a commercial pet photoshoot?
Its my job to make your job easier. We have an initial call so that I can understand better the look, feel and the values of your brand and create a shot list. From there, I can secure the dog (or other animal) models, secure location, and provide a schedule.
On the day of the shoot, I manage communication and direct the models, shoot to the list but pivot when needed – which happens a fair bit with animals as you can probably guess!
Afterwards, I will back up & process the images, edit and upload the finals to a gallery, back up and deliver the images. I’ll always request feedback to make sure we have achieved your photography goals.
Can you provide examples of your previous work with similar pet brands or products?
Absolutely – there’s a small selection of my work on my portfolio, but if you’d like to see anything in particular, just drop me a message.
How do you find the right dog or animal model for us?
There are two ways that I can do this. The first is to either utilise my dog model database, or if the right fit for you isn’t on there, I’ll do a casting call on my social media where I can be very specific with what we want from training and temperament, to size and breed – this has worked brilliantly as it also puts new eyes on your brand and helps increase engagement and reach. There is always a fee for dog models but its quite small.
The second way, usually for larger brands who might work with an marketing agency, is to use an animal casting agency. They do the searching for you from their huge database of pets, who will all be trained to a good standard and used to performing. The fees for these dog models are much higher, and could start at £150 for half a day.
What is the turnaround time for receiving the final edited images?
Generally around two weeks, depending on the time of year. In summer it might be slightly more, in winter, less.
Can you provide a breakdown of your pricing and what is included in your commercial pet photography packages?
Yes, I can send you a personalised pricing proposal with all the details, no obligation, and I wont give you a hard sell, if you think I’m right for you then that’s great!
Do you have any recommendations on how to prepare our pets or products for the photoshoot?
If you would like your own pets to feature, I can go through with you the basic training required in advance of the shoot.
What measures do you have in place to ensure the safety and well-being of the animals during the photoshoot?
I’ve worked with animals, and dogs specifically, for over 8 years, as you will see from some of my testimonials, I work with the animals to make sure they are relaxed and comfortable and will not push them to do something that they don’t want to do. Even the most well trained animal might have an off day, this is where we need to keep an open mind and change direction slightly if needed. I will be constantly looking at their body language to asses that they are happy – and this definitely translates in images!
